www.psgill.co.uk/ Route 8ighty 6ix goes on a cinematic journey in which we hear the (often ignored) thoughts of Manchester's number 86 bus passengers. It observes the 86'ers as they come and go, hears stories of their personal journeys and ultimately explores the unwritten laws of public spaces. Haha, no way, I grew up on the next street down from Tony atta and his brother Danny. Tony was a bit of a bully as a kid, he put a nail in my back tire on my relleigh budgie when I learned to ride it without stabilizer lol.
Great documentary and hosted well , big up ❤️🔥🙏
Enoch Powell was 100% right.
this is when black people used to talk normally, instead of the gangsta bullshit
The grammar of white people isn’t much better. There’s some ‘wanna be blacks’.
Was 10 remember going onto quinney and parkway watching it all happen.. icie..
1:13!
Les with his missy is still alive lovely bloke A jus Iwish I could back and really put some work in then compared to today with CCTV DNA we got no chance
So glad I were there !!!
Good poet Singhy.
I was a working musician in Tenerife during the riots, I couldn't believe that the UK was in meltdown. This period is captured by the song 'Ghost Town' by The Specials.
Good documentary but why use footage which is *unmistakably* Toxteth Liverpool 8 (this is *NOT* Moss Side) #Toxteth - 19:46 - 19:50 -- 21:05 - 21:16
A lot of rose coloured spectacles looking back on before the riots ... we're told virtually everyone was prejudiced against the young black men etc....which came first though? Usually people make judgements based on experience. Its very easy to justify any bad behavior if you suggest everyone is prejudiced against you. WHy do police stop more black young men, bcs more young black men ARE/WERE more likely to be involved in crime than for example a middle-aged white woman..and all the young men in moss side were black....I only went there a few times but two of those times I was robbed at knife point by young black men, once at night and once at lunch time...so fuck em!
im on this 5.19 princess junior my old school
So let me get this straight! Proper sense would dictate that if the police knew that the station was going to be attacked, why didn't they call for reinforcements to surround the building. Its not exactly rocket science is it. Jeez! What load of propaganda based bollocks.
living in Moss side these days doesn't seem as bad as back in 81 or the 00s even though I've been living in Moss side since the late 90s I would of had to carry a gun back then to feel safe
was this on TV?
Making excuses for black people again doesn't help anyone.
forgetting the history what the white man has done to the world doesn't either
+ *The Drama Llama* Yes! Excellent point, let's remember that then shall we? The industrial revolution, the railways, electricity, the internal combustion engine, manufacturing, electronic recording, television, breakthroughs in science and medicine which have revolutionised the way our species thrives, psychology, philosophy, oh and the computer and internet you're using right now. Yes indeed, white people ( despite being by far the least populous race ) have contributed so much to humanity it's scarcely believable isn't it? Black people...........................not so much.
Er..Mr *dud deluxe* , No. Simply stating the FACT that white people have created the modern world you live in.
You forgot the part where it was white people who created the system in which black people live... doesn't matter what advances white people have made for the world, the white man thought up the idea of arresting black people to he used as a free labour force, making laws so they could arrest them. Watch "slavery by another name" bur you won't will you, doesn't follow the black people are at fault retoric that validates your points
*The Drama Llama* How completely and utterly misinformed you are. Slavery has existed throughout the course of human history, in every country, on every continent. Your comment "white people created the system in which black people live", is utterly ludicrous. Are you saying the system in which 800 million Sub - Saharan African black people live was created by white people? How do you explain the fact that MANY black people thrive? Just blaming ( ALWAYS BLAMING! ) the white man for the complete and utter under achievement of black people just doesn't cut it.
Really thought that was great. That poet Saquib, is a really talented poet.
Brilliant - I learnt a lot of new things that I didn't know about the riots (I was 5 at the time) and thought the poetry was awesome!

remember it well hazy days/pool at triggs corner shop, good memories.
Nice to hear [and see him in person] bits of Barry Adamson's - Moss Side Story LP played in the background of this. It's a 'lost' great Mcr LP that doesn't really get talked about like other Mcr LP's of the 80's. Same with Yargo, who should have been as big as the Mondays/Roses.
Very well documented
Two of the best videos depicting how things were. Excellent quality and presentation using the people of Moss Side and no actors.
